Saputo joins forces with Food Banks Canada to tackle hunger from coast to coast

Hunger doesn’t take a break – and neither does the work to end it.

That’s why Saputo is announcing a new partnership with Food Banks Canada, a charitable organization working year-round to fight hunger and its root causes. With a network of over 5,500 food banks and community agencies, Food Banks Canada is on a mission to relieve hunger today and prevent it tomorrow.

Through a $450,000 commitment over the next three years, Saputo will support the organization’s national initiatives, as well as its After the Bell program – a targeted effort to help children facing food insecurity.

When school meal programs are put on pause for the summer, After the Bell steps in and fills the gap. This year alone, the program will deliver 215,000 nutritious food packs to children from coast to coast, ensuring they have access to healthy, ready-to-eat snacks once classes end. With children making up one-third of food bank users, these food packs provide crucial support where it’s needed most.

“As a dairy processor, we have a responsibility to tackle food insecurity and help make sure that those in our communities have what they need to grow and thrive,” said Haig Poutchigian, President and Chief Operating Officer, Dairy Division (Canada). “We’re committed to supporting Food Banks Canada’s efforts and to being part of a solution that helps address immediate needs while contributing to long-term change.”

Together, Saputo and Food Banks Canada are working towards a simple but urgent mission: building a future where no one in Canada goes hungry.
