A Lifelong Passion for Maintenance

Mike Duran, Maintenance Leadhand

For Mike, maintenance isn’t just a job—it’s a lifelong passion. Over 27 years at Saputo, he has honed his skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and mentorship, making a lasting impact every step of the way.

"From a young age, I loved figuring out how things worked. This curiosity has helped me solve complex problems systematically, which is essential in maintenance. One of my favorite memories is when I was just 10 years old and managed to fix my bike all by myself. That sense of accomplishment and the joy of making things work again has stayed with me ever since. That is how I started!"
"Sharing knowledge with others is incredibly rewarding. I love setting up training sessions and seeing the team grow. It's important to me that everyone feels supported and confident in their skills. Watching someone grasp a new concept or solve a problem on their own for the first time is a great feeling. It's all about building each other up and fostering a collaborative environment where everyone can succeed."
"The sense of family and camaraderie is a big part of it. Many of my colleagues have been with Saputo just as long as I have, and we share a strong bond. Plus, I love that every day brings a new challenge! The support from my manager and the opportunity to continuously learn and grow in my role also keep me motivated."

Our success stems from how we collaborate and learn from each other. Whether it’s teaching a new technique or troubleshooting an issue together, our team thrives on communication and mutual support.”
“I love my job, and the culture at Saputo, especially the close-knit team at our Levin plant, makes it even more rewarding. We have recognition programs and hold employee events several times a year, including specific ones for the maintenance department. Our team is always coming up with fresh ideas to recognize employees and foster a sense of community. It’s a place where you feel valued and motivated to go above and beyond.”

Thriving in a Hands-On Career

Kimberly Robinson, Maintenance Tech

After joining Saputo six months ago, Kimberly transitioned from production to maintenance with the help of a supportive team and a welcoming atmosphere. She enjoys the challenges and opportunities to learn every day.

“I was a plumbing contractor before moving into production work. When I started in manufacturing, I realized maintenance aligned well with my hands-on experience and mechanical skills. Having had a variety of work experiences, I approach problem-solving from multiple angles, offering unique solutions that might not be immediately obvious. This versatility enhances my effectiveness in my current role.”
“Since joining, I've found the people here to be very friendly and easy to communicate with. At first, I was nervous because it was my first maintenance position. The team has been incredibly helpful and supportive, making my transition into maintenance smooth and enjoyable. This collaborative environment boosted my confidence, helping me settle into my new role.”
“Every day in maintenance is different, presenting new challenges and opportunities to learn. I enjoy troubleshooting and finding the best way to solve problems. The hands-on and dynamic nature of the tasks keeps the job exciting and engaging.”
